Original collapsible top hat, c.1900, from the Exposition Universelle in Paris — an exceptional piece both for its condition and rarity.
This is a high-grade hatmaker’s model, crafted in fine lustrous silk, with a fully functional collapsible mechanism and its original interior with gold maker’s mark.

The lot also includes its Art Nouveau hatbox, made of rigid cardboard and decorated with the emblem Deutsche Industrie Kapp-Hüte, featuring an antique metal clasp.
The hatbox closes correctly, which is extremely rare for pieces over 120 years old.
